ALEXIS JAMET
Born in 1990, Alexis Jamet lives and works in Tokyo. His practice moves across animation, graphic design, drawing, and print, allowing graphic and drawn forms to circulate from one medium to another.
Through film, installation, printed matter, and books, he creates works that exist as much in the image as in space. His work has been exhibited across China, Korea, Japan, Europe, and North America. He has also created projects for museums, theatres, orchestras, and opera houses, alongside collaborations with Chanel, Hermès, Louis Vuitton, Moncler, and Nike. His illustrations have appeared in The New York Times, The New Yorker, Bloomberg, Le Monde, Nikkei, and Popeye.
Le Bruit des Pétales
Six years ago, Alexis Jamet published Le Bruit des Pétales (Éditions FP&CF), a book of drawings made between 2019 - 2020. The shapes circle around the idea of a flower without ever quite committing to it.
While the drawings were coming together, Jamet asked his friend Matías Enaut, a musician, composer, and singer, to imagine texts that could sit alongside them—not as descriptions, but as a second voice moving through the same hesitation. The collaboration later turned the other way around, with Enaut’s songs taking shape as an EP, while Jamet created animations for the music. The graphic design was handled by their friend Jad Hussein, from the book and cassette to the layout of this text.
The work created for this exhibition is an occasional return to that vocabulary of forms—not a revival, but a continuation. Six years on, the shapes carry traces of everything Jamet has seen and made, and of whatever Enaut has since read, listened to, or carried with him.
